“Young Blood“ by The Naked and Famous is a song that became ubiquitous during the early 2010s and served as the soundtrack to many young adults who related to its whimsy and lyrics about fragile youthful love. And the song is still cherished by fans today who regularly tweet out their affection for both it and its host album ‘Passive Me, Aggressive You’, which will be soon celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The duo of Alisa Xayalith and Thom Power have released an at-home stripped performance of the song, peeling back its layers of synth to reveal its sensitive core.
Their forthcoming album ‘Recover’ is dropping July 24th and finds the duo excavating deep, dark areas of themselves to create some of their most compelling indie-pop yet. Check out “Death“ (focused on the fragility of our own mortality) and “Come As You Are“ (an ode to embracing all the facets of who you are). Also, the song “Sunseeker“ was inspired by Alisa‘s dog and how he changed her life when she adopted him.
