RIOT FEST ANNOUNCES FULL ALBUM PLAYS FROM THE ORIGINAL MISFITS, YELLOWCARD, THE MENZINGERS, ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, THE GET UP KIDS AND FEAR

Riot Fest has presented bands doing full performances of their iconic albums for many years, including The Flaming Lips, Ween, Blink-182, Bad Religion, Cypress Hill, Digable Planets, Dinosaur Jr., The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Against Me!, Bloc Party, Weezer, The Offspring, Jane’s Addiction, Weezer, Slayer, Samhain, NOFX, Descendents, Naked Raygun and more, thrilling their fans of all ages.

2022 offers an exciting array of bands playing full albums – The Original Misfits will perform their classic, Walk Among Us to celebrate it’s 40th anniversary, Yellowcard will perform Ocean Avenue, The Menzingers play On The Impossible Past on it’s 10th anniversary, Rocket from the Crypt play Group Sounds, The Get Up Kids perform 4 Minute Mile on it’s 25th anniversary and the mighty Fear play The Record to celebrate it’s 40th anniversary.

The Misfits’ debut record—one of the most influential punk records of all time—is home to some of their greatest hits, including “Skulls,” “Astro Zombies,” and “Mommy, Can I Go Out & Kill Tonight?”. Walk Among Us has been cited by many as their introduction to punk music as a whole, including several Riot Fest artists: My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way picked it as the one record that changed his life. “My mom wouldn’t buy it for me because it has a song called ‘Devil’s Whorehouse,’ so I got my grandfather to buy it for me,” Way told Guitar World. “I put it on and immediately I felt more liberated, free and pissed off than I’d ever been.”

Yellowcard’s biggest, most beloved record will be front-and-center for their exclusive reunion at Riot Fest 2022. It’s known for the eponymous mega-hit Ocean Avenue that dominated airwaves and MTV at the time, along with the singles “Only One” and “Way Away”. The Menzingers’ On The Impossible Past, was met with universal praise upon release for its nostalgic lyrics and infectious melodies. It is a timeless record that perfectly captures the feeling of sitting with regrets, heartbreak, and old memories in your mid-20s—or as the band puts it, how “all good things must fall apart.”

Riot Fest—one of the largest remaining independent festivals in the country—returns to Douglass Park September 16-18 in Chicago. Now in its 17th year, the festival features headlining acts My Chemical Romance on Friday, The Original Misfits on Saturday, and Nine Inch Nails on Sunday. Notable first-timers for Riot Fest 2022 include beloved indie rockers Yeah Yeah Yeahs; the pivotal goth rock group Bauhaus; a reunited Sunny Day Real Estate; as well as first-time sets from Portugal. The Man, Yungblud, Placebo, Jeff Rosenstock, Lunachicks, The Linda Lindas, and Lucky Boys Confusion.

Attendees will also enjoy reunion sets from Yellowcard (performing their sole 2022 show at this year’s Riot Fest), The Academy Is… and Midtown—as well as returning punk heroes like Alkaline Trio, Bad Religion, and Descendents, hip-hop acts like Ice Cube and Action Bronson, and fest favorites Sleater-Kinney, Jimmy Eat World, The Front Bottoms, and The Wonder Years. Over 85 bands will play across 3 days and 5 stages.
