Metal fans around central Florida braved the insane humidity, and the insane amount of clubs that’s all around Downtown Orlando to catch one of the hardest metal shows I’ve had the pleasure to cover so far in 2023. All at the old (but great) theater known as TheBeacham.
Being a weekend and at the very beginning hours of Downtown’s “Prime” nightlife to begin. I found myself stuck in Orlando’s traffic hoping to get out and be able to enjoy some great music with bands such as Terror from Los Angeles, California. And the amazing The Black Dahlia Murder from Waterford, Michigan.
The show started fairly quickly and ended early enough to allow the crowd to fight their way out of Downtown’s crazy nightlife. Terror took the stage around 7:30, quickly bringing the crowd’s energy up to a thousand. I don’t usually have to fight my way out of a photo pit, but with the insane number of crowd surfers that Terror was bringing forward, I found myself doing the job of photographer and helping security get crowd surfers safely on the ground. Middle of their set, lead singer; Scott Vogel was telling the crowd about their first time in FL, which was around 23 years ago! Letting the Florida crowd know that it’s always been one of the heaviest they have played for.
TERROR SETLIST

- Can’t Help but Hate
- Boundless Contempt
- One With the Underdogs

Not letting the crowd wait for a long period of time, The Black Dahlia Murder quickly took the stage at The Beacham. This is the first tour since their late and irreplaceable lead singer, Trevor Strnad, passed away at the age of 41 years old. Now with the return of guitar player Ryan Knight taking the spot of Brian Eschbach, who bravely took the role of his late band member as lead singer for the band.
Being my first show seeing them, I gotta say I wished I had been able to see them earlier. I was blown away by everything, from vocals to drums, etc. Even after all the mayhem that Terror brought, the crowd still had an insane amount of energy for The Black Dahlia Murder. This was probably one of the heaviest shows the theater hosted. The floor and walls shook with the music, attracting the attention of many clubgoers outside wondering what was causing all that “chaos” inside the 102 year old theater. The Black Dahlia Murder gave the fans a show that will last in their memories for a lifetime. The Central Florida metal scene gave all the energy, love, and support that The Black Dahlia Murder and other bands deserved that night showing once again that the metal scene is one filled with nothing but love and support for everyone.
