About a month away from now will be the start of one of the most anticipated Fall festivals by Danny Wimmer Presents titled Louder Than Life. The festival started back in 2014 held in Louisville, KY and every year has gotten better and better. I attended Louder Than Life for the first time in 2017 and it had a spectacular lineup. I planned to return in 2018. Unfortunately, due to heavy rains the week before, the venue was flooded and deemed not safe to hold the festival. Fans were tremendously disappointed and Danny Wimmer Presents promised next year’s in 2019 would be even better. And they held to their promise.
This year’s festival will be held at the Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center from Friday, September 27th through Sunday, September 29th. And the lineup this year may just be the best one they’ve put together yet.
The Musical Artists
When I saw the announcement for the 50 bands announced for the three stages listed my mind was blown away. Below is the list of artists per day performing:
Friday, September 27:Slipknot, Staind, A Day to Remember, Chevelle, I Prevail, Architects, Beartooth, Motionless In White, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, GWAR, The Crystal Method, Graveyard, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, New Years Day, All Them Witches, Crown Lands, Wilson, Dead Posey, Santa Cruz and more.
Saturday, September 28:Guns N’ Roses, Godsmack, Ice Cube, Halestorm, Dropkick Murphys, Stone Temple Pilots, Suicidal Tendencies, Melvins, Andrew W.K., Badflower, Knocked Loose, Anti-Flag, Redd Kross, Parlor Mob, Like A Storm, Jelly Roll, Dirty Honey, Amigo The Devil, The Pink Slips, JunkBunny and more.
Sunday, September 29:Disturbed, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Breaking Benjamin, Die Antwoord, Three Days Grace,Sum 41,In This Moment, Deadland Ritual, White Reaper, Demon Hunter, Ho99o9, Angel Du$t, Sick Puppies, DED, Fire From The Gods, Broken Hands, Anemic Royalty and more.
Friday’s lineup is just too good to be true. Slipknot headlines the day with new music from their album We Are Not Your Kind that was released on August 9th. It is the new music from the band since 2014 and fans can’t wait to see them perform. They are currently on tour and Danny Wimmer Presents snagged them for the festival. Perfect headliner. Follow that up with the return of Staind! Reunited for the first time in 5 years, the band is sure to blow away the fans with some of their well-known songs like “Mudshovel”, “Outside”, and “It’s Been Awhile”. And throw A Day To Remember, Chevelle, I Prevail, Architects, Beartooth, and Motionless In White and you already have a lineup fans will not forget. And of course you can’t forget the unique metal performance from GWAR (bring a raincoat!). My personal favorites are the additions of Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and New Years Day who both put on great live performances.
Saturday’s lineup once again will knock fans off their feet. Headlining the day will be Guns N’ Roses. The rock band released the iconic album Appetite For Destructionback in 1987. They’ve been touring this year and Danny Wimmer Presents arranged for them to perform at Louder Than Life. It should be a spectacular performance. One of my personal favorite bands Godsmack also performs that night. The band is closing in on their 25th anniversary and shows no signs of slowing down. No stranger to the Danny Wimmer Presents festival, the band always delivers with phenomenal live performances and usually lots of pyro! They’re still touring supporting their 7th studio album When Legends Rise. In addition, rockers Halestorm (another Danny Wimmer Presents festival veteran) will surely have the fans moving. And I love the mix up adding Ice Cube and Dropkick Murphys to the lineup. On top of that, don’t count out seeing great performances from up and comers Badflower, Andrew W.K., and Like A Storm.
And just when you think it couldn’t get better, Sunday’s lineup will stun you. Headlining is the metal powerhouse Disturbed. Touring in support of their most recent album Evolution, the band is infamous for their hard cutting music like “Down With The Sickness”. Though at a moment’s notice can turn it down with their remake of “Sound of Silence”. Either way, they are such to rock the festival closing it out in a most memorable performance. But before that festival attendees will be treated to both Rob Zombie (a Danny Wimmer Presents festival veteran) and Marilyn Manson in two separate performances. I’m sure both performers will let it all loose on stage to get the fans rocking. But before you get to see them, fans will be treated to seeing Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace perform. Both bands are well-known for delivering spectacular live performances and I’m sure they will not disappoint. The ever-popular In This Moment (who always seems to be on tour) will provide an amazing experience with their theatrical and metal performance. My favorite Demon Hunter will be on that day in support of their two separate albums War and Peace and Sick Puppies will most certainly rock the stage.
Food and Drink
It can’t be a Danny Wimmer Presents festival without some spectacular alcoholic concessions for fans who are 21 or older. First, they’ll be able to get their hands on Metallica’s Blackened WhiskeyandEnter Night Pilsner at the festival.
