From The Pit To The Crowd: Louder Than Life – Artist Preview – Demon Hunter

In less than a month, fans will be swarming the Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center from September 27th to September 29th for Louder Than Life produced by Danny Wimmer Presents. With three solid days of rock and metal, it is a guaranteed good time. The hardest part of these festivals is always deciding who to see. With three separate stages and usually overlapping schedules, choosing who to catch can be tough. The headling acts are easy enough because they usually don’t overlap. But, from the start of the festival day through the afternoon, you’re not catching everyone. I’ll tell you one act you definitely should not miss during this festival: Demon Hunter.

The heavy metal band from Seattle, WA formed back in 2000 with brothers Ryan Clark (vocals) and Don Clark (who left in 2009) as a new project. The two had been in two bands together previously. Within two years, Demon Hunter released their self-titled debut album in 2002 through Solid State Records. The album was well received by the metal community. In 2004 they released their sophomore album Summer of Darkness. Once again, the band received solid reviews of the album and their single “My Heartstrings Come Undone” was used on the Resident Evil: Apocalypse movie soundtrack. Demon Hunter showed no signs of slowing down as they released The Triptych, their third studio album, in 2005. The album charted onto the Billboard 200 and even hit #1 on the Heatseekers chart. The band continued to find success on the Billboard charts with each album. Demon Hunter also embraces their Christian faith and has tremendous success on the Christian charts. The band’s eighth studio album, Outlive, was released in 2017 debuted at #1 Independent, #2 Rock Music, #2 Hard Music, #8 Current Albums, and #25 on the Billboard 200 charts.

And then in 2019 Demon Hunter did something most artists never do. The released two albums simultaneously. Their ninth and tenth album War and Peace both were released on March 1, 2019 and proven once again why they are a force in the metal world. War charted #1 on the Independent, #2 on the Hard Music, and #5 on the Rock Music Billboard Charts. While Peace charted #2 on the Independent, #3 on the Hard Music, and #6 on the Rock Music Billboard Charts. And for a sampling of their music, check out the videos for “On My Side” from War and “More Than Bones” from Peace below.

Demon Hunter is Ryan Clark (vocals), Patrick Judge (lead guitar), Jeremiah Scott (rhythm guitar), Jonathan Dunn (bass), and Timothy “Yogi” Watts (drums).
