101.1 WJRR Orlando’s rock station has their festival Earthday Birthday 28 taking place at the Central Florida Fairgrounds this coming Saturday, April 23rd. The lineup is a spectacular piece of work with headliner Godsmack leading the way along with Earthday Birthday alumni Three Days Grace. Along with them is the Trinity of Terror Tour of BlackVeil Brides, Motionless In White, and Ice Nine Kills. The metalcore Ocala band Wage War will also be performing and has been lighting up stages with Slipknot this year. Tennesse rockers Black Stone Cherry have always been a fan favorite. But, the rock-rap artist Jelly Roll who has been shining in the limelight will be making his first appearance at Earthday Birthday! They are also having appear the amazing guitarist Ayron Jones whose skill is out of this world. And we can’t leave out mentioning Lilith Czar whose debut album Created From Filth and Dust is getting huge praise will be performing. Fun fact: Lilith Czar’s real name is Juliet Simms and she finished second on the 2012 season of The Voice.
This year Earthday Birthday is also bringing the heavy with the Even The Odd Stage with bands Farewell To Fear and The Convalescence headlining that stage. Living Dead Girl who is on tour through the U.S. will be appearing on that stage along with Kirra, Frame 42, Circa Arcana, and ToxSick.
On Monday, WJRR dropped the Stage Times for Earthday Birthday and there was some unexpected surprises on it:
Over on the Byrd Stage, Orlando’s own SoulSwitch is coming back to Earthday Birthday! They have played this festival a few times and never disappoint. It’s great to see WJRR supporting one of our own hometown metal bands. If you’ve never seen them live, do yourself a favor and get to the festival early to check them out! Also, I must have missed that Fame on Fire will be performing! I first was introduced to this band via a playlist for the Blue Ridge Rock Festival for 2021 and then caught their performance during the fest. They were phenomenal. Both great additions to Earthday Birthday. But, you can’t go wrong on this stage with this lineup especially having Wage War, Black Veil Brides, Three Days Grace, and Godsmack closing it out.
At the Turn It Up Stage you have all solid acts from Lilith Czar, Blackstone Cherry, Jelly Roll, Ice Nine Kills, Motionless In White, and closing the stage will be rockers Thrice. The Byrd and Turn It Up Stage don’t have a lot of overlap and should give fans enough time to go back and forth between the two stages to see the full sets.
The Even The Odd Stage is for those who want some heavier sounds. There are some solid acts on this stage, especially with Living Dead Girl, Kirra, The Convalescence, and Farewell To Fear. Even The Odd is live art and music show that provides sideshow entertainment at festivals. This year they are bringing KTS Action Sports to perform daredevil BMX stunts. And we’ll also have professional wrestling from Atomic Revolutionary Wrestling during the festival.
And then we have one of my favorites, The Acoustic Stage! There is nothing like stripping down songs to their core and playing them live for an audience. I feel it’s where you truly hear the soul of a song without any of the electronics and backing tracks. On this stage we’ll see three wonderful Orlando artists. Nick Hildyard is a vocalist and pianist who performs with Classic Albums Live. We then have rockers Blaine the Mono who is absolutely blow this set away. Their vocalist Randi Blaine is truly talented and it’s great to see them back on the Earthday Birthday lineup. And then we’ll see Leaving Haven who is a solid rock act and has opened for well known acts like 3 Doors Down and Theory of a Deadman. I remember reviewing them as part of Theory of a Deadman’s show and they were fantastic. Outside of the locals, attendees will be treated to see Wage War, Ice Nine Kills, and Black Veil Brides strip down their songs. Seriously, who doesn’t want to see these bands perform acoustic?!
